SOUTH AFRICAN VETERANS

At the reunion of South African War veterans held iv New Plymouth on Thursday night opportunity was taken to consider a remit for the veterans' annual conference at Wellington. The remit (reports the "Taranaki Herald") was that South African War veterans who are incapacitated become eligible for the old age pension at 60 years instead of the ordinary age of Go. In proposing the remit Mr. D. P. Eva us said that some time ago the Government had agreed to grant veterans an additional allowance when they became eligible for the old ago pension. However, some veterans were becoming incapacitated and the speaker thought that special consideration was due to them. The remit was carried unanimously.
