EDEN URGES REJECTION

GENEVA,; May 25.:, Mr Sato submitted a new naval agreement to replace the Washington and London treaties. .He emphasised, that if the two existing treaties were fully applied it would entail both qualitative and quantitative increases which would not bo in conformity with the I aim of the Conference. , Mr. Eden, urging a rejection of the plan, said that it was not of such a nature to assist their work. Senor Madariaga (Spain), advocating the abolition of battleships above 10,000 tons, sarcastically mentioned that the five leading Powers possessed" 4,276,000 tons of warships compared with 940,000 for the rest of the world.
