RACING AT WOODVILLE
CLUB'S JUBILEE MEETING
SPLENpID CARD PROVIDED
Splendid acceptances Lave been received for the Woodville District Jockey Club's Jubilee Meetingtomorrow, and the racing shou|d be highly interesting. Most of the horses engaged ivill be running at the Birthday meetings and a few days later, at Foxton, so the form shown will be valuable as a guide to these. later meetings; The Woodville track will, be soft after recent' rain, but, with promise of fair weather ahead, it.should otherwise be in excellent order. The programme and prospects are as follows:-f- ■'•-■■ 11.40.—WINTER HACK HURDLES, or 75 soys; ■•■ ; l'/s nilles. t Palm !';..... 30 13 Royston ..... 9 0, Lima I,'ux ~; 9 12 liamuua 9 0 , Vltaphobe ... 93 Colsflcld 3 0 Taura Lad ... S 0 Sir Red 9 0 Outside the two top pair, Pahu and Luna Lux, and Cotsfield, the jumping material in the Winter Hurdles is poor or untested. Pahu has not raced since December, but he is well and 'has been schooling attractively. , .Against such opposition as this he should not feel the want of lacing. Luna Lux won three hunt cups in succession in his last three starts, but ho had been oft" the i=cene since Augui-t, and previously has not i-hown any hm tiling ability, the big countiy suiting him better. Cotsfield has run several decent hurdle races. 'L'oyston is. a novice pot-si-bility. Two who will be suppoitcd uic I'uhu and Cotsfield. 12.30.—AHITATLRANGA ifACK HANDICAP, of U5 aovs; 7 furlongs. Purse, the fopwejght, is well after her double Marlborough win, but she wiJl now find Lady Ronald- harder to beat at 111b better terms,- though it is likely that she will do it. Aeron, a winner on his home tiack in Decpmber, must also go well, as he is a Consistent horse, and Golden Chant may * atone for her Wangamii failure. White Squall is well in at 7.5, and Land Tax and Lackston alsp have fair chance's. Swilt.-and Sure, Dick Whitiinyton, and Anemometer, if near their best, would also lequirc consideration. The public may rely on Acron, I'urso, and Goldeu Chant, Li;.—JUBILEE CUP, of 130 soys and slhcr cup valued 13 soys; l',i mllui. One who reads specially well is the very ea?y Marton winner. Copper King, who is traiucd at Woodville, and if le has retained anything like that form he,! should almost certainly finish in the money. Takakua N and Fairway, if run in this race,1 might provide ,his most serious' opposition, and among the tried handicappers are two likely ones in Chopin and Lucky Alice, who are both in good form. Juggle may have enough weight, and Beacon Fire has yet to be tested at the'full 7nile and a quarter, though there is little doubt' he- will see the .distance through satisfactorily. A hard battle may find the prominent division at the end including Copper King, Takakua, and Fairway. 2.O.—HOPEFUL STAKES, of 50 soys; maidens only; 6 furlongs. Hazoor 8 11-.Windward ..8 0 Lack of pavliculnr form makes the issue iii.the Hopeful Stakes quite open. Qucveivs Diadem, for whom there was a quiet chat at Wanganni; may be the popular selection, and if she is as good as her connections believe she should go near winning here. Vonia Park, who has previously given a glimpse of promise, may be a serious rival, and other opposition should , come from Toxmiss, Hazoor, Tudor, and La Fleur. There wfll probably be good support for Queen's Diadem, Vonia1 Park, and Tudor. % ; .; ' 2.43.—MiVTAHIWI HACK HANDICAP,' of CD jsovs; 1 mile and a distance.1. Fairway »..;■ 9 8 Chief , . If Fairway is reserved he is almost certain to be the favourite, and it. will not be his weight that, will trouble him. Shootist and Thrasher are recent winners in at handy imposts, and Kotaki Eka is another who may prove no spectator with only 7.2 on his back. Kalmuck and the unlucky Beaconsfield look likeliest of the Others. Good efforts should be produced by Fairway, Kotaki Eka, and Shootist. 3.3O.—XGAWAPURUA HACK HANDICAP, of 65 soys; 5 furlongs. Good Hunting is a possibility, in spite of his weight, but with their advantage in the handicap Grumpy, Royal Hunting, Foreign Queen, and Hunting , Lodge may produce one or two to beat him. • G'runipy's last start produced a second to Kaihoro .beaten a head in open company, and that was a striking effort. , "Royal Hunting and Hunting Lodge will meet at the same difference as at Marton, , where they ran a dead heat. I'or one miss Minstrel Lad has been dropped 71b, ' and he should be improved now. King teg, I'm Alone, Right Bower, and Arctic Region also, have chances. Perhaps the hoist \yill include the numbers of Grumpy, Royal Hunting, and Hunting Lodge.' 4.IS.—GOLDFiNCH MEJIORIAI, of 100 soys; ' ! % 7 furlongs. . ■. ; Habit •../.. 9 0 Mahora .... 713 All Humbug, . 810 Orby's Choice 7 7 , Retract ...:.. 8 8 Slippery ... 7 7 ' Royal Bengal1 . 8 8 Princess Bell . 7 0 Curio (Inc. *6lb Leisure 7 3 -, ■ rehep.) 8 5 Sir Pombal ...-70 Kaihoro ..ii, 8 1 False Scent .. 7 0 i Takakua .'.. 713 \ Thei Goldfinch jMemorial Handicap has ! drawn an even field of form sprinters, and ; many will carry good support. The main opposition may , come from AH Humbug, Curie, and Ttika- , kirn (if reserved), all winners at thcii1 ■ most recent starts. Habit, Slippery, Sir , Pomliiil, and Leisure are others in form.
