BEHIND SCHEDULE
WANCANELLA IN STORM
(By Telegraph.) . (Special to the "Evening, Post.") . - AUCKLAND, May 23. Due to the Jato start and adverse conditions at the beginning , aud end of her voyage, the Huddart-Parker motorship "Wanganella did not reach Auckland from Sydney until after midday today, five.hours behind schedule. The vessel brought 137 passengers. As soon as she was clear of Sydney Heads the Wangauella ran into heavy easterly weather, which became worse later in the night. Although the ship pitched heavily no damage was done. On Saturday morning conditions improved, but last evening, and again this morning, fog was experienced which delayed the ship's arrival. Passengers who-came across in the ship describe the weather experienced at Sydney last week as terrible. The wind blew with gale force, doing- con-siderable-damage to property, while flood waters invaded business premises in the city. In the- harbour an exceptionally heavy sea was running, and the Manly ferry service was suspended for two hours. ■
