LODGE MEETINGS
Ngati-Awa Lodge, No. 152, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., held its fortnightly meeting recently at Woburn, Lover • Hutt, Bio. Johnson, N.G., presiding. Accounts totalling £2 13s were passed for payment. Brothers stood in silence out of respect to the late Bro. Crawley, P.G.M., The lodge decided to forward a letter to,Bro. Garidy thanking him for his. past services as a trustee of the lodge., The lodge discussed the matter of obtaining an honours board, the proposal- meeting with general approval. The lodge decided to present, a past grand's certificate to ;Bro.; Reynolds in recognition of his services to ; the. lodge. Bro. Pearson (Heretaunga .Lodge) paid a visit and was accorded a vote of welcome. The N.G. reported on visiting Heretaunga Lodge, and conveyed fraternal greetings from that lodge. . . • • The usual fortnightly meeting, of Wildey Lodge, No. 107, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., Island Bay, was held recently, when Bro. W. Pi Wilkins presided. The finance committee reported that no medical or hospital claims had been- presented for' some time. Owing to several officers being detailed'to assist the D.D.G.M. at the ■ installation of officers at Kupe Lodge, Lyall Bay, routine business was concluded to'allow, cf; tneir departure. Members remainiflij, spent the remainder of the evening in games and community singing. Southern Cross Lodge, No. 24,L0.0.F., N.Z., held its usual meeting recently, the Noble Grand, Bro. A. Ryan, presiding over a good attendance. ■ Several brothers were reported ou the sick list and relative sick pay: and accounts were passed for payment. Invitations' from :several, kindred lodges were received and accepted. Two new members.were proposed-.; Several committees and sick.visitors for the various districts were appointed. Bro. R; S. Meech reported on a recent audit, stating that the funds of the lodge were in,a satisfactory condition. Bro. A. X. West .reported on dispensary matters, stating that since reorganisation the-business was showinit a decided improvement.- During the evening Bro. G. F. . Rudkin, D.D.G.M., installed several officers, who Were not! present, on installation night. A welcome to visitors was.replied to by the D.D.G.M., who conveyed greetings from Bro. D. F. Smillie, 1.P.G.M., and "from Bro. Toomath, of Pyramid Lodge; Wangaiiui. Bro. Moore, who is transferring to this lodge flora Tasmau Lodge,- Nelson, conveyed greetings from that lodge. After the close of business the members were entertained by Bio. W. A. Smith, who gave a leeturette on humorists .past and present. The usual fortnightly meeting of Cleveland Lodge, No. .13, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., was held at Brooklyn last Wednesday, Bro. L. Penbey presiding over a fairly large attendance. Several invitations for coming social functions were received. , It was decided to convey congratulations to Kawa Kawa Lodge, North Auckland, on tue occasion of its 50th anniversary, xne annual report and balance-sheet of the Wellington U.F.S. Dispensary was presented, and also the balance-sheet of Grand Lodge as at December 31, 1932. Bros. Mathers and Wilson (Kupe Lodge) were accorded the usual welcome. .. Iti ! Rebekah Lodge, No. 62, 1.0.0.1., N.Z., met.recently at Otaki, Sister Cooksley, N.G.. presiding over a good attendance. After transacting essential business, the lodge adjourned and a euchre tournament was held: Prizesi were: won by Miss K. Synnott,'Mrs. Mathie, Mr. D. Garrity, Mr. N. Synnott. A guessing competition in regard to the weight ot a cake was won by Miss Symonds. J-he hostesses for the evening- were Sisters Bailey and Irving. . ■ . , The fortnightly meeting of Tiose _ot Wellington Rebekah 'Lodge, No. 3S, 100 F., N.Z., was held last week. Sister A ' Smith presiding over a very large attendance. Sick pay was passed on account of one member. . One candidate was proposed for membership. Three candidates were admitted as members. An official visit was received from Bro. L. Bule DD.G.M., and officers o£ Hutt Valley district, and from various Rebekah lodges of the Hutt Valley. The .committees ioi the ensuing six, months were appointed. After the conclusion of the. meeting an enjoyable time was spent in.dancing. - Victoria Rebekah Lodge, ■; No. 2, I 0 O F N.Z., held its fortnightly meeting'last week, Sister Kempton, N.G., presiding over a good attendance. Among those present were members of ;Lily ot the Valley, Rose of Wellington,.Rose of Cw-terton; Star of Petone O-Knvi-itj, Rahiri, Esther Lodges, District Deputy Grand Master of Hutt and staft, District Deputy Grand Master of Wellington aud staff, and Brother Tooirias (Pioneer Lodge, Wanganui). The Lady District Deputy Grand Master (Sister. Tahiwi) arid suite were present for the installation, of omcers as follows:—N.G., Sister V. Bowring; Junior P.N.G., Sister D. Kemptonj recording secretary, Sister 0. Wilcox; financial secretary, Sister Maley; treasurer, Sister W. Maley; warden, Sister t*. Clarke; conductor, Sister »C. Guymer; explain. Sister E. Clarke; R.S.N Glister P. Bowring; L.S.N.G., Sister J^ee, VG. Sister M. Hood; R.S.VG, Sister D." Maley; L.S.V.G., Sister McKinnon; IG Sister L. Lister; 0.G., Sister C. Kelley. A vote of welcome was .accorded visitors. Sister: Tahiwi wished the new officers a successful term of office, and also presented Sister <¥~ Barrowman .with a Past Noble Grand's collar. . A PN.lj. jewel was also presented to Sister a... Johnson; Fraternal greetings were con. veyed from all the visiting lodges. Lodge business ending, the remainder, of the evening was spent enjoyabljy . O-Kiwi-iti Rebekah Lodge, No. 44, TO O F N.Z., met recently, . bister McPh'ee, N.G.. presiding over a good tendance. Invitations to socials were accepted, a number of members promising to attend the functions. It was decided to send a letter of congratulation to Kawa Kawa Lodge on'the occasion of its jubilee. Sister Parry was appointed deeKate to the Medical Fund. Bro. Rule, D.D.G.M., and .suite; were officially present. Two candidates were initiated. A challenge for the cribbage shield from Willwhetu Lodge was accepted. Bro. Rulo replied to the welcome and Sister llelchamber conveyed greetings from Rnhuri. naki Lodge, Hastings. Lodge business wiis then concluded. The principal item of tho evening was the play between 0-K.iwi-iti (holders) and Heretaunga (the .challengers) for the ."W shiold, Heretaunga winnhiß by 11 games to 4. , . The fortnightly meeting of Rahiri Rebekah Lodge, No. 49, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., wns held last week, Sister Torkinfrton, N. 0., presiding over a fair attendance. Before 'commencing business members stood m silence for two minutes on account of the death of Sister J. Mcßoberts; and for a further two minutes in sympathy with Sister Kirkland in the death of her brother. One candidate was nominated for membership. After the meeting members entertained several brothers from Maraenui, who were.present officially.
