The twenty-seventh animal meeting ,of the members of Wright, Stephensou and Co., Ltd., was held at the head office of the company, Wellington yesterday, in the presence of a large number of shireholders. Reference to the annual report of the. company was made in this columu on May 17. . The profit and loss account, including £27,166 2s Id. brought, forward from last year, showed a credit balance ot £57.024 17s Id From this has been deducted the interim dividend on preference share*, paid .on . October ,5 last, amounting to £6246, and provision for bad and doubtfur debts and unpaid interest, amounting to £98,223,19s Bd, leaving a debit, balance of £46,945,2s 7d, which has .been transferred to reserve account., Feeling reference was made to the death on the Bth . inst. of Mr. ,J. A. Johnstone, -who was a joint .managing director since the formation of ttie company, and had' been risociated with! the business for the past fifty-eight years. . ~ > ■. ■ Messrs.
