TARANAKI TERRITORIALS
*T had an opportunity yesterday," remarked the Minister of Defence (tho Hon. J. G. Cobbe) today, "of seeing n. very fine body of young men yjjudcr canvas at Wavcrlcy undergoing annual military training. They were all territorials under the voluntary system now existing, and belonged to the Queen Alexandra Mountetr Rifles, the men being drawn, from the districts between Wanganui jjand .Now' Plymouth. I was particularly Impressed with the stalwart type and physique of tho men, who were mostly drawn fiom farms, and with their excellent mounts. I understand that the regiment is recruited up to full strength with a waiting list of 23. "There was a splendid spirit of enthusiasm permeating the camp, and the men were manifestly getting as much interest from their work as they were- enjoyment. The- value of theso graining camps to the men from all viewpoints is undoubted, and is appreciated by the men thenijolves.^
