BULLI BY-ELECTION UNIONS DESERT LANG SUPPORT FOE >VILLIS United Press Association—Ey Electric TeleSraph—Copyrijbt. (Keceived May £3, 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Nominations for the Bulli by-election, owing to Mr. Lysaght's death, are:— Arthur Butterell, United Australia Party; Paul Martin, Communist; John Sweeney, Lang Labour; Albert Willis, Miners' Labour. ■The "Sydney Morning Herald" says that there was a dramatic development in the crisis in the State Labour Party. -Many unions withdrew their support from Mr. Lang and decided to assist Mr. Willis in his candidature for Bulli. The wholesale defections of Trade Hall unions j from Mr. Lang came as a surprise to his supporters, who are now engaged in a desperate struggle to retain control of the Labour. movement for Mr, Lang and his executive. The "Labour Daily" says that a feature of the nominations was the determination of Mr. Willis to,continue his defiance of the constitution of the A.L.P. by nominating as an Independent Labour candidate against a selected and endorsed Labour candidate. Mr. Willis has resigned from the Legislative^ Council.
