SOUTHERLY CHANCE SOON. The cyclone responsible for the recent stormy weather in New South Wales has moved very slowly across the Tasman Sea, and in so doing has lost intensity. By this morning it was centred to the west of Farewell Spit. Tho weather yesterday over the Dominion as a whole became dull and misty under the influence of tho . approaching cyclone, aid during the night rain became general,! In the Auckland peninsula there have been some heavy falls, 373 points at Kawakawa and over two inches at several other recording stations. Aa temperatures ■■ have remained mild, the raiii should be of considerable benefit to those districts where there has been a shortage for' some time. • .' , Auckland had a fresh north-easterly wind yesterday, the weather being dull and misty and rain falling during the night. In Wellington yesterday's weather was mild and pleasant, although dull and hazy. Some light rain fell during tho evening, and between midnight and 9 a.m. today nine points of rain were recorded at Kelbuin. The wind has continued to be a light northerly! Christchurch had a dull day yesterday, occasional' showers accompanying the north-easterly breeze. i, Yesterday was dull in Dunedin also. Tho wind there was a light northeasterly, and rain fell there also during the night. ■
