AUSTRALIAN FOOTBALLERS Seldom has the Mayfair Cabaret housed such a large and merry-;crowd as last evening, when the Victoria University College Football Club gave, a ball to welcome the visiting Australian Universities' team. , Green and gold streamers,, the colours of both teams, decorated'/ the dance and supper rooms. ' The usual bright banter, characteristic of student gatherings, enlivened proceedings; a spirited haka was, given, and a smart ballet gained an enthusiastic _ reception. Those who took part in the ballet were Misses Peggy Price, Mildred Briggs, Sheila Coates,- Sheila Fraser, Katherine Fraser, Phyllis Ryan, Zenocrate Henderson, Kara Aldridge, an'd-Esme Burrell. Miss M. .Davies was the soloist, and Mr. M. Pierce the pianist. The dance committee comprised Messrs. F. Petre, R. Wild, and D. K. Carey; Most of the members of the Australian Universities' team were present. Others present included Mr. and Mrs. S. S. Dean (representing. the New Zealand Rugby Union), Mr. and Mrs. Murphy, (representing the Wellington Rugby Union), Professor Boyd-Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. Monro (the latter wearing black ling velvet), Mr. and Mrs. J. Elliott (the latter in honey beige lace), Mrs. F. Petre (midnight blue velvet), Mrs. Mackay (ivory satin and lace), Mrs. K. Lockett (green net); Mr. and Mrs. A. Flint, Mrs. Brcmner, Mrs. Cockley; Misseß M. Bviggs sedge green georgette), M. King (black ring velvet), J. Hare (Lido blue lace), M. Murioi (old gold satin), J. Powell (midnight blue velvet), M.
