REPERTORY THEATRE

ANNUAL MEETING V The annual meeting of .the Wellington Repertory Theatre was hold last evening. Mr. W. M. Page,, who' presided, said that during the year iour seasons were held, and the following' plays .were-pro-duced:—"Loyalties," 'T.y Candlelight,' "Milestones," and "See Naples and Die, The important step was taken of engaging the Grand Opera House for the production of "Milestones." Although the production was an artistic success, financially it resulted in a fairly substantialjoss, as did the last play of the season, which was also staged'in the Opera House. Ihe productions were in the hauds of Mr. W. S. Wauchop, to whom the society was much indebted for his excellent work. Thanks and congratulations were iilso due to those who took part in the plays and contributed to the success of the society s productions. A aeries of readings were given during the year. These had created a great deal of interest. Mr. Page mentioned that two valued members of the society—Miss Hilda Kirkley and ■ Miss Beryl Earle—would be leaving for England in the course of the next two.monthsi In the hope-that -they would return to New Zealand ere long, .he suggested that instead of accepting their resignations the society should grant them leave of absence. During the year, said Mr. Page, 113 elections to membership had been made.. The total number of members ou the roll was 415. Officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows: —Patrons, their Excellencies the Governor-General and Lady Bledisloe; president. Mr. William-Page; vice-presidents, Mr. IS. S. Baldwin, Mr. W.. Simm, Mr. W. S. Wauchop; honorary, secretary. Mr. G. Cooper; honorary treasurer, Mr. I\. K. Pope; honorary auditor, Mr. R. Lyon; honorary librarian, Mr. N. Byrne; committee. Dr. Welton Hogg, Mr. G. R.. Povvlcs, Miss Xifa Chapman, and MLss Constance Moriee.
