Diamond Jack .was always in front from Nylotis, and, jumping splendidly, he won easily. Squatter broke down and was pulled up. Time, 4mlu 12sec. Stewart Island Handicap, of, 80 soys; 1 mile. —1-1 Lochard, 8.9 (Brodie), 1; 2-2 Venlte, 7.9,' 2; 5-5 Broughshane, 7.7, 3. Also started: 4-4'Ohpl 8.9, 3-3 Young Sentinel 7.12, 6-6 Red Sunset 7.9, 7-7 Ecclefechan 7.7. Ohai made the running from Red Sunset, Ecclefechan, and' Broughshane. In the- straight Lochard cut down the leaders and beat Venlte by three-quarters of a length. Broughshane was a length and a half away, then came Red Sunset. Time, lmln. 53sec.

Also started: 8-8 Silver Paper 9.6, 7-6 Steeton 8.6, 5-5 Royal Duke 8.6, 4-4 Leading Boy 7.7, 6-7 Night Maid 7.7. Totolomal and Royal Duke were the early leaders from Sailing Home, Steeton, and Red Boa. Royal Duke retired at the straight, where Sailing Home put In a claim and beat -Totolomal by a head.
