Confidence in tho administrative cap- : abilities of the members of last year s management committee of the -New Zealand Rugby Football Union was shown by delegates up to the point that with one exception all members were returned to office. The failure of Mr. E S. HyltonNto retain his seat was very surprising, as this member, without doubt, has pToved himself to be a most efficient aiyl able «ommitteeman during his term of office. The fact, apparent-; ly, was not appreciated by most delegates. The record of attendances at.meetings; of the management committee of the; New Zealand Rugby Union rev.enled that one member: (Mr. T,, A. .Fletcher) had! attended only seven meetings during; the past year. : It was explained by the, president, however, that business had; take* Mr. Fletcher'out'of town a good fleal during the year, and that in his visits to other centres he was able to carry out work in the interests of the, game. •.-,-. _i , . • _. The new member ,of the N.Z.R.U. management committee, Mr, H. H.. Sterling, rwho* takes thtv.place iof Mr. E. S.1 Hylton, has previously held a seat on the' committee, and he also served for a term on tho management committee of the Wellington Rugby Union. Among the, candidates defeated in the ejection of members of tho N.Z.R.U. management committee were two former players of renown—one a New Zealand selector and tho other an ex-All Black captain. A. R. Pickard, of the Pctone senior A team, has been transferred' to Auckland, after being a member of the Petone Club for ten years. Before he left ho was farewelled by the staff of Woolworths, Ltd., and presented with a gold watch and chain, and was also given a valedictory party. Through complications resulting from an injured finger, Mr. A.- St. J. Parsons^ a well-known Rugby football referee and also a prominent bowler, is at present .a. patient in the Lewisham Hospital.
