CHIEF SECRETARY LEAVING
It is. .announced from the Salvation Army national, headquarters, Wellington, that Colonel and Mrs. Levi Taylor, are retiring from active service. Colonel Tay.lor has been chief secretary for the New Zealand territory for the past four years; i They will leave New Zealand on August 22 by the Monowai, and proceed to Canada, their homeland, where, they will take up residence in Toronto. A cable from international headquarters, London, conveys the information that Colonel Albert W. T. Orsborn has been appointed new chief secretary in New Zealand. T.he colonel has been an 'Army officer for twenty-eight years, hi 6 last appointment being chief side: officer of the William Booth Memorial Training College, in London. He is-noted -as."a. brilliant speaker and a gifted song writer, having composed a number of songs which are widely used in'the Army. His -wife is the daughter of the late Colonel Barker, well known in New Zealand and Australia as tho originator of the Army's social work. , ■'■■.:■ Commissioner Bruno Friederich will arrive in Wellington by the Maunganui, on" Monday. He lias lately retired from active service,; and has been visiting the scene of his former labours in Australia, where he was for'dome'.time editor in .chief/in' Melbourne. He is a .world traveller, having seen service ih\ Canada, China, India, Czechoslovakia; Hungary, Germany, and Austria. He wilF'give a lecture on Monday night in the "Vivian Street Citadel, entitled "The Cauldron .o£ Central Europe," in which he will give stories and facts showing.'the condition of things in that part of the^world, and how the Salvation Army': is striving to "be of service to .the-various peoples. sioner Cunningham will .preside.
