PROSPECTORS' DIFFICULTIES

It was reported at the Returned Soldiers' Association • that the men were working for gold in the Queenstown and Arrowtown districts under incredible hardships.. The.cold was so intense fliat in grasping iron the men left the skin of their hands on it. The association decided to press for an exemption from_ sales tax of gold won for all those working on the Unemployment Board's subsidy scheme. It was stated that they were working on poor ground and keenly resented losing 12s 6d on every ounce..
