The depression*responsible for thc-un-settled spell during the past three days has moved only slightly eastwards since yesterday, and still another 4s developing to tho westward. A change to southerly winds gradually extended over the Dominion yesterday, and'last night heavy rain fell in many parts of tho North Island, and on the south side of Cook Strait. The falls over most of the South Island, however, have been only slight and scattered. It was an unsettled day at Wellington yesterday, with rain at times. At about 1.15 p.m. the wind changed to light southerly. Rain became more persistent after midnight, and up to 9 a.m. today 93 poinrs had.fallen." At Lower Hutt the total was 76' points- . experienced a strong westerly wind yesterday, t with squally showery weather. In the night stormy conditions prevailed, and heavy rain fell. Christchurch had unsettled showery weather yesterday,- with a south-west breeze. Some heavyl rain fell after 11 p.m. The total was 50 points. The. weather in Dunedin yesterday was fine, but cloudy, at tunes. . There was a light wind from the south-west.
