HUTT ROAD SMASH
CAR AND BUS COLLIDE
WOMAN BADLY INJURED
A spectacular collision between a light motor-car and one of the Bailway Department's heavy passenger buses occurred on the Hutt Road shortly before 8 o 'clock this morning. The car, which was practically new, was struck broadside on by the bus, and was completely wrecked. The driver of the car, Miss I. C. Austin, who lives at 104 Hutt Boad, was fortunately tho only occupant. The car was struck on the lefthand side, which was smashed in, and the force of the shock was so great that tho right-hand side of the car was also wrecked. Miss Austin received injuries to her head and was removed to hospital by tho Free Ambulance. Her condition is reported to be serious. Tho accident occurred opposite tho Hutt Boad oil; stores. Miss Austin's car was coining, in to Wellington, and the bus was going to the Hutt. It appears that Miss Austin's ear skidded broadside.across the road and in front of the bus. No damage was done to the bus. '
