AUCKLAND

(By Telegraph.—Press' Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day. A feature of tho civic elections was the re-election of all the sitting Mayors, changes in the personnel _oi" nearly every council, and Labour's gains in tho city. Of 43,712 voters on the city roll, only 21,327 voted, or under 49 per cent. Tho Mayor, Mr. G. W. Hutchison, whoso re-election was universally expected, had his majority ovor the same opponent reduced from 4195 to 442. Tho new council comprises twelve nominees of the Citizens' Association, eight Labour, and Mr. T. Bloodworth, a Labour supporter who stood as an Independent. Five sitting councillors wero rejected. Mr. E, J. Phelan, Labour, topped tho poll with 16,286' votes,' and tho Communist, Mr. G. Dale, was bottom, with 2380 votes. Mrs. Dreaver,' Labour, was elected to, the Hospital, Board' at tho expense of one sitting member. Tho chairman, Mr. W. Wai-' lace, topped the poll with 13,537 votes, i There was a surprise in tfle Harbour | Boardi)oll. Two of the three members j who sought re-election were defeated, including the deputy-chairman, Mr. J, I B. Johnston. The three new members: are Messrs.'E. H. Davis, W. A. Donald (Citizens), and J. SayegK (Labour).
