LABOUR RECRUIT
WON FROM UNITED RANKS
A special message from Timaru to the Christchurch "Star" states that the Labour Party gained a recruit from the ranks of the United Party on Tuesday night,: when, ■, sifter an address by Mr. > H. E. Holland, M.P., Leader of the j Opposition,, in the Theatre, Royal, Mr. .T. H. L'ang'ford, of Winchester, in proposing a vote of thanks, announced his alignment with Labour. The announcement created a surprise among the large audience. , s Mr. Langford, who contested the Teinuka seat in the United Party's interests against Mr. T. D. Burnett at the last election, asserted that Mi-. Holland was now the _ only one who enunciated Liberal principles in his interpretation. Mr. Holland's address was devoted to Labour proposals for the economic rehabilitation of the Do: minion. , • ' Mr. Langford's motion was, carried amidst cheers. , At the 1931 election, Mr. T. D.
