LONDON CONFERENCE
DOMIONION'S REPRESENTATIVES
Cabinet this afternoon' :will discuss the .question 'of New Zealand's rcpioscntation at the World Economic Con-' fcrenec,, width is to open in London ■on June 12. Although no official announcement has been made, it is known that an invitation to be present''at the Conference is in the hands of the Government, and it is expected an early announcement of the Government's intentions will bo made. ' Questioned this afternoon,'the Prime Minister (the Et. Hon. G. W. Forbes) said that all he could say at .that juncture was that the -question of representation at the Conference would be discussed by Cabinet this afternoon. He was unable to say whether it was likely that a decision would be reached today. Cabinet met at 3.30 o'clock this afternoon. Preliminary discussions regarding the Conference have already taken place between the leaders of the Government—the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance (the Et. Hon. J. G. Coatos) —but until this afternoon the matter was not officially placed before Cabinet. There appears to be, no question that New Zealand will be represented at the Conference, and there is a strong impression that both Mr. Forbes and Mr. Coates will make the trip to London. • . ■ Apart from the Conference -itself, there are a number of important questions which the New Zealand Government is anxious to discuss at first hand with the British Government. These include the question of the- central bank, the butter position, the conversion of bonds held overseas, and. exchange problems.
