CONCILIATION RULES
IMPORTANT DECISION
ADMISSION OF ASSESSORS
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day. An important decision concerning Conciliation Councils has been given by the Arbitration Court. Last month, on behalf of 7G of the smaller retail butchers, with 114 assistants, an application was made for a new award. The workers' union and also a number of tho larger firms were cited as respondents.. Twelve assessors, four representing each party, appeared'in the Council, but the Commissioner, Mr. P. Hally, said ho could recognise only four from each side. The representatives of tho larger firms protested strongly, saying that they numbered 32, with nearly 500 -employees. ■The matter was referred to the Court, which upholds the Commissioner, and adds: "It is true that a considerable section' of the employers may be disfranchised, but in the event of terms of settlement being agreed on, dissentient parties have the right- to apply to the Court within one month for exemption." :.
