FORCED LANDING IN POLAND
MRS. MOLLISON CENSURED
' (Received May 4, 11 a.m.) . . LONDON, May 3. The Royal Aero Club censured Mrs. Amy Mollison's recent article in a Sunday newspaper containing a "some-i what lurid description of a forced land-1 ing in Poland.'' The Polish Aero Club protested to the , British Club, which had written to Mrs. Mollison to the effect that it was satisfied that her statement, was \ baseless and could not accept the explanation that, the facts wore distorted without her knowledge as relieving her of responsibility for articles signed by,herself. . '(The club," added the letter, "counts it a matter of honour that misrepresentations shall not be returned for hospitality." The club, it states, was. induced only by the gravity- of the affront to Polish airmen to inform Mrs. 'Mollison of its disapprobation.'/ ' A copy has been fowyarded id Poiand accompanied by apologies and appreciation of Polish .hospitality.
Tho article described a forced descent in Poland during the Tokio flight in 1931. The; aeroplane was overturned and a dozen peasants surrounded the machine. "A big, dirty, bearded, evil-looking niau, with eyes that looked at me greedily, demnnded money," says the writer, adding that later the man tried to drag her from a sleigh into a hut. Mrs. Mollison, in a statement, deplores the "unethical and unchivalrous" way the Aero Club dealt with tho controversy, and tho unpardonable publication of private correspondence without' permission.
