THE DAILY SWIM
SUCCESS AT SCOTS COLLEGE
Speaking at the presentation o£ swimming and life-saving awards to boys of Scots College this afternoon, the principal (Mr. J. R. Sutcliffe) mentioned that the past season had been the most successful in the history of the school. The success was due first of all to the fact that the school had its own baths and also to the good work of the physical director, Captain Duffy. He felt sure that the success of the school last season must be sufficient evidence to convince Mr. McKelvie, to whom the college owed its swimming baths, that his efforts on behalf of the school had been well worth while. "The good summer weather and consequent lengthy swimming season," continued Mr. Sutcliffe, "have enabled us to carry out a progressive programme, with the result that only two boys outside the preparatory department are unable to swim, and these two boys would in the ordinary course be classed as exemptions owing to their state of health. "The health of the boys has benefited greatly from the daily swim and sun bath, and apart from the successes gained, this alone justifies the daily swimming lesson." .—^——^—^^ mm^m——
