CAR HIV BY TRAIN

TWO PEOPLE INJURED

. Travelling from "Waterloo Quay towards the main Hutt Koad, a motorcar driven by Archibald Walker was struck by a train, at the Davis Street crossing at C.15 p.m. yesterday. Mr. Walker, who is a marine surveyor, and his wife were tho only occupants of the car and they both escaped with comparatively minor injuries. .Mr. Walker received an injury to his ribs, lacerated wounds to his head, and shock. His wife suffered injuries to her ribs and back. They were taken to hospital by tho Free Ambulance. Mr. Walker, who is the Hutt candidate for the Harbour Board election, was discharged from hospital this morning. When the car was struck by tho train it was lifted bodily on- the front of the engine and carried a distance of about three chains. Tho car was badly wrecked, but when the train pulled up Mr. and Mrs. Walker were still seated in it.
