BOXING.
Interest continues to grow in the coming boxing contest for the ■ lightweight championship of New Zealand between Archie Hughes, of Auckland, the holder, and Ted Oxley, of Tahiatua. .Judging by the number of applications, for scats from the latter's home town he should be^ assured of a good following in the Town Hall next Monday night, but he will have to be in his best possible condition, for Hughes reports from Auckland that he is leaving nothing to chance in order to-fit himself for what he recognises will be a very hard fight. The preliminaries should provide some exceptionally willing encounters.with.such well-known and experienced boys as Reeves, the amateur light-heavyweight champion of New Zealand,' Davies, Withey, Billish,: Dunne, and Loveridge engaged. ..Only-a,limited number of cheap seats' . arc available, and patrons are advised to cither book or secure their tickets early, as accommodation promises t^ be at a premium.
