THE ZOO
LABBUS NOT WANTED
The honey bear Labbus, which is the pot on board the Norwegian steamer Oslhav, has been offered for sale to tho Wellington Zoo, but as tho Zoo <loes not contain a, cago suitable for tho bear, the offer has been refused. Everyone on board the tanker is fond of Labbus, but his habits aro so destructivo that it was decided to dispense with him if a purchaser could bo found. A photograph was published in "Tho Post" yesterday of the three-year-old child of the master of the tanker playing with tho bear. Visitors to tho Zoo recently have wondered what has become of the cat in tho "happy family," which consists of guinea pigs, rabbits, birds, and the cat. The cat, which has been in tho"happy family" for about twelve years, , developed a sore on its neck, and it has been removed from the cago for treatment.
