AMBULANCE CEEMONY
MISSING INVITATION
An unfortunate occurrence in connection with the official opening of the Wellington Free Ambulance's new building resulted in the Presbyterian Church receiving no invitation to attend the ceremony. At. the monthly meeting of the Ambulance Board today the superintendent (Mr. F. Eoffe) read a letter from the Presbyterian Moderator expressing regret that his church had not received an invitation and had consequently been unable to be represented. Mr. Eoffe 6aid that he had replied that an invitation had been sent to the Rev. A. A. Armstrong, Seatoun, who was the Moderator when the founda-tion-stone was laid. He had later been advised by telephone that Mr. Armstrong 'had,, not received the notice^ Tne chairman (Mr. C. J. B. Norwood): It is a very important matter. In reply to an offer by Mr. R. L. Button, he said ho would be very much obliged if Mr. Button would see the Re,v. Armstrong and express the board's deep regret at the position that had arisen. Mr. D. J. McGowan suggested that the Chief Postmaster should be communicated with to see if the letter conld- be traced. Replying to Mr. C. M. Luke, who asked whether the Methodists had been invited, Mr. G. Mitchell said that lie had gone through the list with Mr. Roffe and every church denomination hnd been invited. Mr. Roffe said that he understood Mr. Armstrong was not now the Moderator of the church, but the invitation had been addressed to him at Seatoun. It was left to Mr. Button to make the board's position clear to Mr. Armstrong.
