ASSOCIATION
AUSTRALIAN TOUR
DOMINION SIDE SELECTED
A VERSATILE TEAM
The following fifteen players have been chosen by,the sole selector (Mr. B. L. Salmon) as the Now Zealand Association football " touring side to visit Australia: — Goal: Zuill (Auckland). Full-backs: Stone (Auckland), Gerrard (Auckland), Graham (Bullet). Half-backs: Stenhouse (Otago), Chapman (Otago), Christie (Auckland), Crabbo (South Auckland). Forwards: Barton (Wellington), Ives (Otago), Blackie (Auckland), Baker (Wellington), Kershaw (Wellington), Kay (Auckland), Groves (Otago). (By "Vanguard.") Tho selector's task was not an easy one, but a strong1 selection from tho players available has been made. The majority of those- selected have been prominent in interprovincial football, and the side should work into one of good combination with comparatively little practice. It is significant that twelve of those selected are New Zea-land-born, and learnt their football in the Dominion. The back divisions include experienced players, and the for-, ward line contains some fast and forceful men. Zuill is well known for his steady goalkeeping, and his display given in Wellington in the two recent games showed that he still retains his form. 01 the fullbacks, Stone plays in either tho right or left position, and Gerrard is capable of deputising for. the goalkeeper. Graham is at home in any left position. The halfbacks are- a versatile lot. Stenhouse and Chapman can play anywhere in the back division, and Chapman, in addition, can play at centreforward. Christie is at home in either the right half position, or at centre. Crabbe should prove an extremely valuable man, as he is capable of playing anywhere at all on the left side of the team. He also makes a good right half. ' . .. ~ Of the forwards, Barton plays inside or outside, and Blackie also is equally at homo in either of those positions. Ives plays outside right or left. Baker can play at centre-forward or in the inside position. Kershaw is a versatile man, and can be placed at inside left, centre, or centre-half. Kay plays outside or inside, and Groves is capable of taking a place ' anywhere in the forward division. Of the three Wellington players in the side, two are from the Marist Club—• Barton and Kershaw. Baker, the third local representative, belongs to the Diamond Club.
