Andrews and Mcßain are standing at the request of separate bodies of citizens. , Mr. Avery . was originally chosen as a candidate by the "Workers' Party, but finding ; .he could not support its policy he is now standing as an independent, and Mr. Young is receiving the support of the Workers' Party. Borough Council: * Anderson, Alexander; Ashton, Charles James; Burke, Richard James Joseph; *Campbell, Frank; Barton Albert; ;*Grierson, Archibald; Jackson, Albert F. W.; Laird, Adam Marshall; *Meldrum, Walter George; "Mitchell, John; Napier, James Eric; Pearce, Ward Richard M.; Rateliff, Charles Edward; Sergent, Albert Edwin; Chessman, Frank Malcolm; Ullrich, William; Watt, George; •Wilson,- William Henry. *Sitting member. The members of the present council seeking re-election are all supporting the candidature of-Mr. A. Mcßain. The Workers' Party representatives _ are Messrs. Eatcliff and Sergent, and it is understood that Messrs. Laird and Wattj who have been prominent- as leaders of the unemployed, are standing on a .separate ticket.
