The Petone Borough Council last evening sought tho support of the Lower Hutt Borough Council in obtaining legislation.to give local bodies control of artesian '■ water; w.itßn:;'ttieir "districts -tal th'e rextent---th^tl. the local body should be assured of suin"cfent supplies for-its own needs.. ,;.lhe Works "Committee recommended that the support be granted. ~-, The Mayor (Mr. W. T. Strand) said he did not'think the proposed .legislation wou^ effect what was required.
