CIVIC ELECTIONS
POSITION AT LOWER HUTT
In connection with the municipal elections at Lower Hutt, Messrs. E. J. Guiness and E. F. Eothwell, who were chosen as candidates for the council on a citizens' "ticket," have definitely announced that they do not intend to stand.
Mr. A. Avery has stated that he will not- accept nomination for the Mayoralty as an Unemployed' Workers' Movement candidate, and it is understood that Mr. H. Fairclough. has been chosen in his stead.
;' Captain Post and Mr. J..W, McEwan, sitting members on.the Harbour Board for the combined districts of Hutt and Makara Counties, Petone, Lower Hutt, Eastbourne, and Upper Hutt Boroughs, and tho Jolinsonville Town District will be opposed by Messrs. W. Nash, M.P., and M. Fagan, M.L.C., who has been chosen by the Labour Party.
