TOMORROW'S CONFERENCE
MAYOR'S INVITATION
Referring today to the conference of relief organisations which -will bo: held in Wellington tomorrow to consider the methods of improving the system of affording relief to those in distress the Mayor of Wellington (Mr. T. C A. Hislop) said the conference had been summoned by the Smith Family, and he had simply consented to'tako the chair as requested by the conveners of the conference. He had. now been informed that tho Smith Family had anticipated that he would invite representatives' of all the local relief associations to be present. He was not aware that tho-Smith Family had been relying on him to do so, and ho had not, extended that invitation. However, no.w the position had been made clear he cordially invited representatives of each of the. different bodies carrying on relief work in Wellington to bo present should they so desire. .
