CHINESE EASTERN RAILWAY
MANCHUKUO AND SOVIET
v , SHANGHAI, April 10. The Chinese Eastern Railway is again causing an international controversy— this time between tho Soviet and Manchukuo —which is daily becoming moro. acute. ■ Harbin messages state that Manchukuo is preparing to take drastic action to prevent the further removal of ManchulcßO trains to Soviet territory. Yesterday tho western section of the railway was cut by the Manehukuo authorities at Manchouli, preventing tho removal of rolling stock across tho boundary. Similar action is expected at Pogranitchnays, on tho eastern border. Manchukuo claims that over 3000 freight cars and engines have already been removed to Soviet territory and not returned, despite repeated demands. This has resulted in tho issuance of a, warning to the Soviet railway authorities. It is reported that Russian employees arc planning a general "walkout. Tho situation is reminiscent of tho previous Russo-Chinese dispute, the difference bejng that Japan supports the Manchukuo Government's actions.
