EAST HAEBOUR FAIR
DISTRESS RELIEF EFFORT
Arrangements for the Easter Fair at Eastbourne - are well advanced.
The queen contest, in which, four young ladies from the East' Harbour district are competing for the position of queen of the fair, has created much interest, and from' the activities of the committees working so hard in their interests a very satisfactory result is anticipated. During the past two weeks many enjoyable and original functions have been held —daiices, bridge parties, ping-pong tournaments, garden parties, and sporte events— with.'the object of adding to party funds for the queen candidates, and the amount to be handed over to the committee controlling the East Harbour Distress Fund is expected to be substantial.
Every care is being taken by the organiser and his staif to see that expenses are kept down to the minimum.' The money handled is subject to Government audit, and before any item of expenditure is incurred it is very carefully scrutinized.
Campaign plans are now well advanced. The Easter Fair itself will commence next AVeflnesday and prospects are bright for a merry time, both for residents of the East Harbour district and visitors fr»m the! city and further afield.
