ADMINISTRATION OF ACT
MACHINERY NOW READY
The necessary machinery providing for administration of the Small Farms (Belief of Unemployment) Act which was passed last session is.' now ready and awaits Cabinet approval.
No decision has been r.cach/ed as to which Minister will have charge of the administration of tho Act.. Up. to the present, the 'Minister of Finance (the Rt. Hon. J. G. CoatQs) has been in charge, but in view of the important portfolios he already holds it is doubtful whether he will continue in charge of the legislation. .The Minister of Employment (the Hon. A. Hamilton) already has his hands full, and it is suggested that tho Minister of Lands Cthe Hon. E. A. Eansom) may be asked to administer tho Act.
The Act provides for the setting up of a board of not less than three and not more than fivo members to assist in the work of administration. The board is to appoint local committees, of which the Commissioner of Crown Lands "is to be the chairman.
