RACING AT PAREMATA
Preparations are well in train for the four-day sailing carnival to take place at Paremata during Easter, at which a record muster of centreboard yachts is expected. A full and varied programme, is set down for each day,: and every class, from the midget Tauranffas to. the crack. 14-footcrs, will be well catered for.
Chief interest will, of course, centre in the championyhip events. The open championship tor 14-£ooters is expected to attract a "field" of at least twenty boats, and should prove one of the most exciting races of the regatta. Probable starters in the provincial Rona-Jellieoe championship are the Lavina, Idono, Lauchlan's Jewel, Diana, Sue-lem, Clyde, Kia Ora, Miss Josephine, Peggy, Kewpie, and June, and a very close race is anticipated. The 14----foot squafe-bilge provincial championship is also likely.to be keenly contested, some redoubtable performers having entered. The probable field will be the Putorino, .Advance, Nancy, .Lois, Phantom, Kuini, Kotuku 11., Orcroa, Scandal, and Indolence. . ■
Standard Takapiinas will have a chance to chow their mettle in the Takapuna regatta, championship, in which the Torment, Noleen, and'Watti are expected to Fhow up . well. This race will be mailed strictly, under the ■Cornwall Cup.rulo.-. but the races for the Quirke Memorial Plaque ■will be open to Takapunas built ot any timber, with no restriction an to the ago of skippers. All boats must, however, carry standard sails, and bo fitted with approved bulkheads. Skippers and owners are reminded that all entrants must; be members of a club affiliated to the Wellington Provincial Yacht and Motor-boat Association, and must be-financial with all clubs to which they belong
Members of the Jlnsterton Methodist Church, and others paid glowing tributes on Tuesday night to the services rendered to the ■church and the community, by the Rev. E. 0. Blamires and Mrs. Blamires, who are leaving for Feilding (reports "The Post's" Masterton correspondent). A number of speakers joined in -wishing them well. They Were the recipients of parting gifts. Mr. Blamires will be succeeded by the Rev. 6. T. Stockivell, of Blenheim.
