NEW ZEALANDERS ABROAD

Writing from Toronto on March 7, the secretary of the New Zealand Association (of which Mr. J; W. Collins, N.Z. Government Trade Commissioner hi Canada and U.S.A., is patron, and Mr. Douglas Banks president) gives some interesting news concerning New Zcalanders in Canada. The association headquarters are in Toronto, in Bay Street. The secretary writes:-— The New Zealand Association held1 a very enjoyable "bridge evening" on Wednesday, February- 8, at the Piccadilly Inn, in Toronto. Many members and their friends were present. After the games 'a very delightful supper was serVed. A very interesting event took place when Miss Ida Vipbnd> formerly of Auckland, was married to Mr. E. C. Williams, also of Auckland. The engagement was announced on Christmas Day of Miss Beatrice Stephens, of Toronto, to Mr. John. Willmott, formerly of Christchurch. Mr. Gerald 0. Morrison was recently successful in being appointed a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Chemists. The Alexandra room, of the King Edward Hotel in Toronto was once again the scene of a gay party, when members of the New Zealand Association entertained at one of their midseason dances, Tuesday, February 28. The guests were received by the president, Mr. Douglas Banks, and Mrs. Banks, and Mrs. J. W. Collins,.wife of the New- Zealand Trade Commissioner, who was away on official. business in New York and Boston. The committee in charge of the party was Mr. D. Banks, Mr. C. L. Knox, Mrs. E. C. Williams, Mr. G. Morrison, Mr. R. Toswill, Mr. J. B. Willmott, Mr. C. M. Reid, Mr. A. Carson. Among the many present wero Mr. and Mrs. D. Banks, Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Williams, Mr. and Mrs. J. K.
