Mr. Malcolm Stewart, joint manager of .the Auckland branch of Kempthorne, Prosser;-and Co;, has been, appointed assistant general manager of the company with headquarters at Dunedin. The Mayor of Petone (Mr. D. McKenzie) was re-elected chairman of the Petone Fire' Board at its annual meeting yesterday. Dr. Acland, Christchurch, returned, to the south last evening. Mr. and. Mrs.. E. Trevor Gould, of Sydney, who have been making an ex- ■' tensive tour of the South Island, will return to Wellington tomorrow morning. They • will -leave for Sydney by the next trip of thcr AVanganella, accompanied by their daughter, Misa Innes Gould, who is due to arrive by the Rangitata froni "London on April 12. . .;■•'. . . ;■•■ Messrs. Visitors to Wellington staying at th» Empire Hotel include Captain and Mrs. W. "Whyte, Messrs. A. Gray, W. Wallace, J. Smith (Auckland), G. Elliott (Hastings), and J. K.Hornblow (Foxton).
