A NATIONAL ISSUE
Commenting on the statement of the dairy export position by the actingchairman of the New Zealand Dairy Producers' Board, the head of an exporting house has informed "The Post" that, while admitting that the statement contained weighty reasons for the avoidance of quota restrictions, yet it is discounted by the imputation of motives of self-interest on tho part of British /importers. ' . :
"Surely the matter, at issue is.sufficiently vital to at least assume that those who are handling our produce are acting on linos which, i^. their opinion, will be of assistance to the industry, both now and, for the future," re* marked "The Post's" informant.
"Tho market today is described as 'stagnant,' and values nominally 66s per cwt, and yet those in authority are still prepared to wait until April 28 before, making any decision-..
"The plight of our producers is becoming tragic, and warrants an immediate round-tho-table discussion by all interested, even including the merchants. The issuo is national, of great importance, and is entitled to the urgent consideration of the Government, Dairy Board, and leaders in
banking and commercial circles."
