LODGE MEETINGS

T Heretaunga Lodge, No. 115. ■ 1.0.0. F., A.Z., held its fortnightly meeting at Petone on March 30. The following officers ■were,elected for the.ensuing term:—NG Bro. A. Smith; V.G., Bro. R. Stewart; ■secretary, Bro. Oliff; recording'secretary, Bro. Armstrong; treasurer, Brb; Mclntosh. The business of the lodge being complete, the meeting was closed- by the N.G., Bro. Woodgate. Bro. C. P. Gandy, D.D.G.M., took over the chair for the purpose of installing Bro. H. L. Rule as D.D.G.M, of the Hutt Valley* Administrative District. The following lodges were officially represented:'—Hutt Valley District, Wellington District, Port Nicholson Encampment, Ngati-Awa, Muritai, Bellevue, Star of Petone, O-Kiwi-Iti, and Lily of the Valley Rebekah Lodges. After an impressive, ceremony Bro. Rule was declared installed as D.D.G.M. -by Bro. C. P. Gandy. Bro, T. Smith moved a vote of welcome to the visitors pf -the. evening and: the following suitably replied:—Bro. C. P. Gandy, P.D.D.GIM., for Hutt Valley District; Bro. ,G. Mathers, D.M., Wellington' District; Bro. R. Wilson, N.G/, Muritai Lodge; Bro. Bbwcock, N.G., Ngati-Awa Lodge;.; :Bro. Jarvis, Southern . Cross Lodge; Bro. Petei-sen, /Bellevue Lodge; Bro. ! Rule, the, new D.D.G.M.; assured the assembled Oddfellows ,of his intention to carry out his, new duties to the best-of' his ability. After being -the recipient of congatujatory.speeches and cheers, he presented to Bro. Gandy, the retiring P.D.D.G.M., on behalf, of the. district, a jewel' to commemorate the excellent' service rendered by him. A similar presentation was made by Bro. S. Kay to Bro. C. E. Tan-r tier for services rendered whilst he occupied the position .of Degree Master of the Hutt District. A very enjoyable meeting came to a close with dancing arid cards. Onslow Lodge, No. 128, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., held its fortnightly meeting at" Khandallah recently, Bro.- Thompson,1 N.G., presiding over a good attendance.'•■ The election of officers for the new term took place during!the evening, and:all elective offices were filled..'A- visitor from Waiwhetu Lodge, Bro. Beayis,* ; took a, flash-light-photograph 'of the members present. The fortnightly meeting of Ngatitoa' Lodge, No, 143, 1.Q.0.F., N.Z., was'held at Porirua, Bro. A. Hook, N.Z., presiding ' over a record1 attendance! .Members of Pride of Kftrori Lodge paid an official visit. Bro. G. P. Rudkin,: D.D.G.M., Bro. C. P. Gandy/ D.D.G.M., of the Hiitt Val-, ley District, Bro. P. Jones, : and Bro. Cooksley (Otaki Lodge) brought fraternal greetings. A vote of welcome: was extended to visiting brothers. Officers for next term were elected. Several new members .were also elected. ..Pride of Karori Lodge having challenged for the" "500" shield,;ia series of games were played, Ngatitoa' Lodge, members/ retaining the: trophy. During the -evening Bro. .Rudkin presented. Bro. Abbott (Pride of Karori Lodge), with a past secretary's 'jewel. Bro. Abbott is leaving the, district. The fortnightly meeting; of Wildey Lodge,; No. ,107, L 0.0.1?., .N.Z., Island Bay, was held on Wednesday last, when Bro. W. F/Wilkins, N.G., ; presided over, a splendid gathering.' Visitors included Bro.; Pearson (Her'etaunga Lodge), Bro. Porter (Pride of Karori Lodge), and Bro. McGinnity (Cleveland, Lodge), who were given a hearty welcome.; Reports from all committees were received and.adopted, P.G. Bro. Holding dealing .with the activities, of the Medical Institute and the new doctors appointed. • The; .election of officers for the new term resulted as follows:—N.G'., Bro. W. S. Hammond; V.G., Bro.- E. G. Manley; recording secretary, Bro. W. R. Kerry; finance secretary, Bro. C. H. Havill; treasurer, Bro. E. J. Oxenham. Routine business being concluded, tire lodge was closed to allow a card tourney to be played. Musical items .and community singing ; brought the evening to a close. ■■'..-■ :" The regular meeting of O-Kiwi-Iti. Rebekah Lodge, No. ii, 1.0.0. F., N.Z., was held recently at Lower Hutt, Sis. McPhee,' Acting N.G;; presiding over a good attendance. Bro. H. L- Rule was present. One sister was. admitted to the lodge by'trans-. fee and four candidates were initiated. The following officers were elected for the ensuing term:— N.G., Sis. V. McPhcc;' V.G., Sis. D. Mucdonald; recording secretary, Sis. B. Wilson; permanent secretary, Sis; .A. Parry; treasurer, Sis. K. Lawrence. .After-a vote of welcome had been accorded visitors, Bro. Rule replied. and Sis. Rout (Rose of Wellington) and Sis. Weslrup (Lily of Valley) conveyed greetings.-The principal item 'of. .the evenlug was the challenge match for the "500" shield, Star of Petone being the challengers. O-Kiwi-Iti were successful in retaining the trophy. The recent meeting of Victoria-Rebekah Lodge, No. 2, 1.0.0.P...N.Z., was held last week, Sis.' D. Kempton. N.G., presiding over a large attendance. The visiting, committee reported on.a visit to a brother in the Ewnrt Hospital.-. One candidate was proposed for membership. The election of officers for the next term resulted as follows:—Sis. V.'Bowering, N.G.; Sis. Hood V.G.; Sis. Wilcox, recording secretary; Sis. E. Maley, finance secretary; Sis;. W. Maley, treasurer. The meeting was only short in duration, ns a. dance had been arranged for members arid their friends. A pleasant evening was held, supper being a novel item—served in cartons for. two. The evening ended with the singing of "Aiild Lang Sync". ■.■■'.■ The quarterly meeting of Court Lady Glasgow, No. .8261, A.0.P., was held last week. C.R. Sis. A. Morris presiding. Two sisters were admitted by .clearance from Auckland, and one candidate was proposed. After the meeting had concluded a game of bowls was- played by members of Coronation Lodge (Druids) and Court Lady Glasgow, resulting in a win for the visitors.. ■ ■
