PROHIBITED DRIVER
CAUGHT AT THE WHEEL MAXIMUM PENALTY IMPOSED
Fined £25 and prohibited from driving for a period of three years on February 27, 1931,' for being found intoxicated in charge of a motor-car, Gilbert F. Tabernacle was charged, for the second time since that restriction was imposed, at the Magistrate's Court yesterday with driving without a licence. ■ Sub-Inspector Martin said that Constable S. E. A.nkins had recognised the defendant driving a motor-ear in Wellington, on January 25. This was the second occasion on which the accused had been charged with driving without a licence since it was cancelled in 1931. Last time he had been fined £5. "I think this is a caso in which I shouldj impose the maximum fine," remarked the Magistrate, Mr, J. G. L. Hewitt, when he fixed the penalty at £10. . . . .: • The defendant did not appear. ,
