NEW ZEALAND DINNER
PUBLICITY ON SHIP
One of the features of the recent voyage of the Makura from Sydney to San Francisco, via Wellington, Barotonga, and Papeete, wa's a New Zealand dinner. The Makura arrived in Wellington today on.the trip back from San Francisco, and a menu which the. chief steward made available makes \tempting reading. The opinion is held by the chief steward that not enough publicity is given to New Zealand on many ships, so to arouse the interest of passengers who were not from New Zealand, the New Zealand dinner was served and it was a great success, many complimentary remarks being1 madii on itl The menu w»s described' as an "Aotea-roa." one, and the first item on it was "Pititi Pnkari" 'cocktail. Some of the items were as follows: Iced consomme Otago, potagc tikinui tolicroa, stcnmccl Waimakariri salmon, x Mount Cook sucking pig, iced asparagus, Wairarapa. sauce, Botqrua plum pudding en flamme, mid curried Canterbury lamb. There were many o.ther items with-New Zealand names. '*
The chief steward provided his own records for the Maori ' musical programme, and they were: "Kafu "Karu," "Take turanga ake," "E hutu riei," "Matangi," "Aroha pumai,". "E moe te ra,"."P-o Atarau,". and "He moke moke."
