SALUTING THE CENOTAPH
Recently tho secretary of the Navy League (Mr. R. Darroch)' wrote to the AVeliiiigton Itctiurned Soldiers' Association concerning tho "scant attention paid to the Cenotaph in the simple matter of raising the hat." , Tho U.S.A. replied that it would bo willing to bear any expense incurred in circularising principals and headmasters of schoojs in the Wellington1 "area on the subject.
A draft of a letter to bo distributed in school principals was submitted by the- E.S.A., and the letter stated, inter alia: —"We request you to bring before the young people in your charge the meaning of the memorial and tho lesson it teaches, and to ask each to show respect to the memory of the fallen and an appreciation of its. message by an appropriate salute when passing the memorial."'
It was decided to get in touch with the Education. Board on the matter.
