MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Cases'at the Magistrate's Court were dealt with yesterday by Mr. E. Page, S M. A remand until Wednesday was granted in the case of John Paton Hardy, a compositor, aged 28, who was charged with stealing a lady's cape valued at £•"> Detective-Sergeant Revellalleged that both Hardy and his wife were involved in the theft. A summons had been issued against his wife, but so far the police have been iinable to serve it. Mr. 'Revell alleged that the accuseds wife knew the police wanted to serve the summons.. "If we ■ cant serve the summons within'-a short: period," he said, "we will seriously consider applying for the issue of a warrant for her arrest." (
June <ie Lacey, aged 10, was convicted: on a charge of being idle' and-disorderly in that she had insufficient lawful means oi support, and ordered to come up for sentence within two years if called upon. A condition of the sentence was that the accused should remain at the Mount-Mag-dala Home during that period." Remands until Thursday were granted in the cases of Thornleigh-. Wilfred Franks, a canvasser, aged 25. and Henry Kdward Mansfield Drummond. a traveller, aged 29. who were charged with receiving quantities of clothing when-they knew them to have been dishonestly obtained. George A. GilleEpie and Herbert J". O'Connor were each fined £1, in default seven clays' imprisonment, for the theft nf two axes from a Htitt County Council depot in Wainui-o-mata by Messrs. S. | Clendon and A. J. Gearing. J.F.s, in the Lower Hutt Court yesterday. ■
