OXFORD MOVEMENT

INTEREST IN CANADA

CRUSADERS" AIM

(From "The Post's" 1 Representative.) MONTREAL, February 1.

The aims and methods of the Oxford Movement and their message have aroused the interest of thousands of persons in Eastern Canada. In. this city and Toronto there has been abundant testimony of the influence of the group, which had its genesis in a mission to South Africa" of seven young men from Oxford.

Dr. Frank Buchman, former Lutheran pastor in Pennsylvania, the leader of the movement as reorganised in 1921 with the inclusion of the delegation, has given his mission here, accompanied by forty adherents, who are now touring the United States. Summing up their visit, the Montreal "Star"' observes:—"These crusaders are not insurgents against established order. They are not in any sense disruptionists. They are not iconoclasts. They are helpers. The stimulation that comes from the adoption of their counsel is all for the good."

The Lord Bishop of Montreal, the Eight Rev. J. C. Farthing, says: "It is not an organisation in the technical sense of the word; it is not something to be joined; *it does not seek to become another sect; it does riot try to change the theological opinions or the ecclesiastical affiliations of anyone; it simply seeks to change lives. "There is nothing new in the teaching given. They insist on complete surrender of our lives to Jesus Christ, and implicit obedience to Him; that we should seek and follow the guidance of God in the affairs of everyday life; that we should make the fullest reparation in our power to those whom we have injured in any way. In a word, they seek to live and to get others to live the reality of Christ's life; that all who own His Name should live in love, harmony, and righteousness towards God and man.

"No.one can doubt the courage, the earnestness, and devotion to our Lord which this group manifests. There is no doubt that God has used it to the changing and helping of nurajr lives.'-'
