TRANS-TASMAN RETURN;
FLIGHT POSTPONED

.. The return flight to Australia of th« Southern Cross from Ninety Mile Beach has been postponed for two"-or three days owing to. unfavourable weather reports. The Southern.. Cross. will remain at New Plymouth .in the meantime. ... . . \. The Government Meteorologist, Dr. E. Kidson, advised Sir Charles Kingaford Smith today that strong northwesterly winds are likely to prevail for the next few days over the Tasman Sea. He added that such weathef usually is followed by a calm. _.'-:.■ Sir Charles expects to leave New Plymouth on Saturday or Sunday if the weather reports improve. -: " • The seating accommodation has been removed from the monoplane and the extra petrol tanks replaced. An additional 85-gallon tank procured .at Christehureh makes the fuel -capacity 760 gallons, giving about 22.hours 5 flying time in reasonable conditions:-.Tha flight is expected to occupy about .15 hours. The radio, telephony" installation has been completed, the cabin; having been made sound-proof. Sir Charles is confident that communication" will be successful. ■ '
