LEAGUE OF MOTHERS
LOWER HUTT MEETING
Reference was made at a recent meeting of the Lower Hutt branch of the League of Mothers to the departure from the district of the treasurer (Mrs. Cameron), regret being expressed at the loss of a valued officer. The president, Mrs. Jeiison, occupied the chair.
Mrs. Dawson, in announcing the changes in the editorship of the magazine, and commending the articles to subscribers, also voiced the timely Easter thought that all must refuse to be cast down with the knowledge of a difficult year to be faced. "Let us not hover round Calvary, but rather rejoice in the Resurrection."
The choir contributed twe very enjoyable items, "Greeting," by Schubert, and "Jerusalem," by Humbert Parry. Following afternoon tea, during which Miss Findlay played incidental music, Mr. Attwood, F.E.H.S., gave a brief address on "Appreciation of a Garden." He concluded by reading extracts from "Judith's Garden," a book for garden lovers. Mrs. Attwood, a pioneer member, was presented with an artistic bos of flowers, Mr. Attwood also receiving a small gift. ,
Mrs. Korslcy returned hearty thanks to the speaker, also to the committee ol the Borough Keserves for generously granting the use of the rock gardens, and to the reserves staff for work in connection with the meeting.
