CHANGE' OF OFFICERS

POSTS ON THE DIOMEDE

The Admiralty has called for volunteers to serve in the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy for three years, according to an announcement made in London on February 13. The vacancies to be held will arise when numbers of officers will. leave, probably in May, when the refitting of H.M.S. Diomede in Auckland is expected to commence. The remainder of those who will have completed their service in the Dominion will leave in August. It is stated that the first of the new officers for the Auckland station are expected to arrive in the Dominion by August. They will be principally for service oh the Diomeae, on which the., refitting work, a triennial activity, will occupy about two months.

According to the announcement in London, the following aro the officers required and the appointments they will fill:—Commander, for command of H.M.S. Philomel, including the training establishment, and as naval officer in charge at Auckland; one lieutenant, for H.M.S. Philomel, and as training officer; one signal officer, for H.M.S. Dunedin; and the, following vacancies on H.M.S. Diomode. One commander, one gunnery officer, one torpedo officer, ono lieutenant (E.), one surgeon-commander or sur-geon-lieutenant-commander, one gunner, ono gunner for director fire duties', two warrant engineers (confirmed), one paymaster 'lieutenant-commander. There are also vacancies for a commissioned gunner, qualified for the command of the trawler Wakakura, and for training Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve officers and ratings in detached cruisers, and ono gunner (T.)), for watch-keeping duties in the Wakakura.
