GUARDING TOWN BEET
LABOUR'S POLICY
The following resolution was passed at a meeting of the Labour Representation Committee last week: —
"That the Horticultural Society .'be informed that we are in entire sympathy with its resolution respecting the preservation of the Town Belt and other areas of land set aside for the social benefit of the community. In regard to the selection of candidates, the Labour Representation Committee wishes to respectfully remind the society that it is the policy of Labour to select candidates who can be relied upon at all times, to preserve the endowments of the city for the benefit :of the citizens. The record of the elected Labour representatives and their attitude towards this important matter indicates the settled policy of the L.R.C. in this regard. We will again select practical candidates to contest the forthcoming elections, who will be pledged to this general principle. The Horticultural Society and others interested in the importance of holding our heritage intact will be given an opportunity of electing those candidates to carry out this necessary duty."
