WELLINGTON AUTUMN MEETING

TURNOVER. UP OVER 50 PER CENT.

AUTOPAY'S SPLENDID THOMPSON WIN

Success beyond all anticipations came to the opening of the Wellington .Racing Club's Autumn Meeting at Trentham yesterday. Ideal late summer weather was in part responsible for the splendid result, and the popularity of the win-and-place system of dividend distribution undoubtedly contributed another main share. The totalisator turnover of £28,994 was an increase of £10,742 10s on last,.year's figures, when the weather, however, was showery, and it compared very favourably with the £36,712 put through two years ago, when the opening day was a Saturday. The racing was always keen, with good finishes in every event.
